There's something out there waiting for us in Call of Duty: Ghosts, and it ain't no man. A new trailer for the upcoming "Devastation" DLC briefly showcases The Predator, as per last week's tease, but it doesn't exactly confirm how the alien menace is involved. Chances are it's similar to how Michael Myers features in January's "Onslaught" DLC; players transform into that horror from the big screens when duking it out in the Fog map.

Devastation launches this week, April 3, on Xbox One and Xbox 360, and other platforms will follow presumably with the traditional one month wait. The DLC features four new maps including the reimagining of the popular "Dome" arena from Modern Warfare 3, and it also chucks in the two-in-one Ripper weapon and the second episode in the Extinction campaign. It's priced at $15 as a single download, or it's available as part of the $50 Season Pass that covers four DLC packs in total.

It's unconfirmed if Devastation features the greatest handshake of all time. [Image: Activision-Blizzard]

Jeffrey Yohalem, writer of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, has revealed that, like an Assassin in a crowd of monks, the setting of the next Assassin's Creed game has been in front of us all along. Yohalem was asked by a fan on Twitter if the flashing symbols shown during the ending of Brotherhood were a hint for the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Unity, to which Yohalem responded:

"Yup."

Yohalem also noted that another symbol shown during the ending, the Eye of Providence, hinted at the setting for Assassin's Creed 3. Oo, this is fun! Let's see, what other symbols can we find? Well, there's what kind of looks like a Shinto shrine and ... is that a cave drawing of a monkey with a super curly tail? Man, we really should have paid more attention in History class. The rumors swirling around Microsoft's me-too attitude regarding virtual reality may be more than idle gossip, according to TechCrunch. Citing unnamed sources, the site reports that Microsoft has purchased augmented reality-related intellectual property of wearable tech company Osterhout Design Group for between $100 and $150 million.

The big thing to note here is that Microsoft's IP acquisition revolves around augmented reality, not virtual reality. Think Google Glass, which is augmented reality, vs. Oculus Rift, which is virtual reality - the former lets you see the world with more information and visual enhancements, while the latter completely replaces the world and what you see with an entirely separate one.

It's also not clear whether this acquisition will lead to anything resembling the Oculus Rift or Project Morpheus for the Xbox; wearable tech is gaining traction in the mobile markets, with devices such as the Galaxy Gear from Samsung now on their second design iteration. In other words, Microsoft's acquisition of ODG's intellectual property may lead to new products which attach to Windows Phone as opposed to Xbox.

Really, any guess is fair game at this point. We won't know for sure how Microsoft intends to penetrate the VR and/or AR tech space until they themselves announce what, if anything, they're working on. [Image: Microsoft]

Titanfall's matchmaking system has been updated in the new "Improved Matchmaking (Beta)" playlist in Classic MP mode. The new program changes up the teams more frequently - if one team is kicking the snot out of another, the dominating team's skill level will be updated and it'll be paired with a better team.

"Did you lose to a really great team?" Respawn asks. "We'll make them disappear and replace them with a new opposing team - and they will have no idea that you just got your butts kicked. This should end some of the frustration with playing for extended periods when you're having an off night."

Finding appropriate teammates may take longer with the new system now, but the end goal is to build more suitable, and longer-lasting, matches. The graph above shows Respawn's behind-the-scenes skill curve, with level 25 as the average. [Image: Respawn]

The Battlefield 4 'Naval Strike' DLC is sailing towards Premium members on Xbox One after DICE delayed it earlier in the week to address animation issues. However, PC players are still waiting on the update, and DICE is pinning its arrival for "early April."

"We have delayed the PC version of Naval Strike because we are concerned that the combination of the pack and planned PC updates would increase performance issues on mid-range to high-end PCs," reads an update on the Battlefield Blog. "We are working hard to resolve that issue now."

When it finally docks on PC, Naval Strike will bring four new maps, ten assignments, five weapons, two gadgets, and a hovercraft vehicle to Battlefield 4. The DLC also features a new Carrier Assault mode in which opposing sides fight to sink each other's aircraft carrier while keeping their own one afloat. [Image: EA]

When Activision releases the Devastation DLC for Call of Duty: Ghosts on April 3, the addition may include a familiar face - or, more specifically, a familiar shimmering outline.

If you pay a visit to the Call of Duty Instagram account (or click through the break below), you'll find a short teaser clip that bears all the familiar hallmarks of the extraterrestrial hunter first made famous in the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger action classic Predator. The vignette depicts a humid jungle, a crashed helicopter and the familiar staccato clicking of that film's titular creature. Though we're never given a good look at The Predator, the clip ends with a visually distorted, nigh-invisible creature rushing toward the camera.

While the inclusion of a classic cinematic monster might have seemed odd a few months ago, Call of Duty: Ghosts has been gradually moving away from strict realism and into the realm of pure entertainment spectacle. The Onslaught DLC pack, which debuted in January, brought horror icon Michael Myers to the shooter, while the game's ongoing Extinction DLC storyline pits human soldiers against hordes of aliens in the wastes of rural Alaska. If you're hoping to make the jump to the new generation of hardware with Call of Duty: Ghosts in tow, you should get a move on. Activision's promotional offer on upgrades of the shooter ends in just five days.

Call of Duty: Ghosts first debuted only a few weeks prior to the launch of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. To ease the transition from one console generation to the next, Activision instituted a deal in which those who purchased Call of Duty: Ghosts for either the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 could upgrade to the PS4 or Xbox One version without having to purchase the shooter all over again. Details are slightly different on each platform, but the final cost to players is about $10.

All good things must come to an end though, and March 31 will see the closure of this upgrade path. If you still hope to take advantage of the promotion in the little time remaining, have a look at the Call of Duty: Ghosts FAQ, which covers all the details you'll need to upgrade your game. Europe and Australia are now getting Wolfenstein: The New Order on the same day North America does, after publisher Bethesda revised the regional release dates today. Australia and Europe were due to get the single-player shooter on May 22 and May 23 respectively, but the game is now launching in all three regions on May 20.

We'd like to think Bethesda announced/evilly laughed its plans for world domination from inside a chaingun-wielding mech suit - we've yet to see if a certain Fuhrer will return in MachineGames' take on the World War 2-themed series. What we do know is William "B.J." Blazkowicz is back as the gruff-voiced hero, and he's now trying to deal with an alternative post-WW2 scenario where the Nazis won and have the game's 1960s world shackled under their control. We also know The New Order is coming to Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, and that pre-orders will receive a beta code for id Software's next Doom game. [Image: Bethesda]
