All in all, Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny manages to encourage players to not only fight and farm, but also to talk to neighbors, make items, tame monsters and explore their surroundings.

Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny is kind of a jack-of-all-trades video game. The villager interaction, combat, and farming are all serviceable, but none of the singular aspects of the game are spectacular.

- soul has been trapped inside Aden’s body
- cheerful and upbeat
- bubbly and positive personality

Odette

- strong-willed girl who is the first to meet Aden and Sonja
- the middle child of her sisters, Lily and Violet
- skilled at cooking
- runs the Three Sisters Inn with her sisters
- priestess at the Dragon Shrine
- keeps an eye on an arch dragon Talynn

- transported to Fenith Island along with Sonja
- brash, blunt personality
- usually agrees with what Sonja suggests
- uses Spirit Magic to grow plants, trees, and rocks

James

- Elena’s older brother
- usually off doing business on other islands
- isn’t a very good salesman
- talks in a calm manner
- becomes quite animated when talking about his sister

Joe

- cocksure treasure hunter who searches for buried treasure in the sea
- not usually succesful
- bright personality and is very friendly
- bit of a prankster
- sometimes doesn’t think how his pranks affect others

Bismark

- Sierra’s twin brother
- complete opposite of his sister
- very serious when it comes to the general store and business
- often gets frustrated by his sister’s actions
- scolds her when she slacks off at work
- trouble dealing with social interaction, especially when talking to girls

Despite some delays, we finally have our retail copy of Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny here at IGN. While I'm not the one doing the actual review, I thought I'd tide you folks over with some of my initial impressions...

As Wii owners well know, the last few months have been pretty uneventful in terms of new software. Thankfully, a handful of games arriving later this year (The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Kirby Wii, etc.) should be just the boost our lonely systems need.
