This was caught in one of the recent Game Informer videos for Skyward Sword. I wouldn't make a really big deal of it, though. We have no idea when Game Informer actually got to play the game. Obviously they played a build that wasn't complete yet, since item upgrade system was still being worked on at the time.

Have you been paying attention to all the Skyward Sword footage that has been popping up lately? If so, you might have noticed the variety in Link's shields. We know that some of these shields are gained through the new upgrade system, but perhaps others are found. Either way, let's take a look at all the shields Link has been shown with thus far. I'll post after the jump to avoid spoilers.

On Tuesday, September 13, Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto arrived on the Tokyo Game show stage to run the audience through a quick demo of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The footage that was shown brought to light all kinds of new details about the game. Since then, some trailers have been released, bringing with them even more tantalizing tidbits about Link's next adventure. Dying to hear what's in store for our pointy-eared, Hylian friend? Look no further...

The official site for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is open, but is only in teaser form. You can get a few screens and an old trailer there, but we also get first confirmation of the game's E10+ rating. On top of that, we get a nice shot of Zelda holding what will likely be our musical instrument of the game.

OK, so last night's Nintendo TGS keynote may not have had a mountain of relevant info for us stateside. But it had a lot of moving images we've not seen before, and we'll take that entertainment over boring old information any day of the week.

We've got all the good parts just after the break with new screens from Super Mario 3D Land and Kirby's Return to Dreamland, plus video of those two, and clips of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Mario Kart 7.

Can human beings overdose on joy? We pray that they can not.

Eiji Aonuma has been speaking to Game Informer about Skyward Sword and the unique set of difficulties posed by making a Zelda game. "The problem is that when you do something once in a game like Ocarina of Time, when you make the next game it becomes expected that all of that is there. You end up sp...

Hope you brought a change of tights.

During the 3DS-centric press conference Nintendo is currently holding in Tokyo, Shigeru Miyamoto kicked things off with the decidedly unportable Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. While showing off the game's features, Shiggy apparently said that the game would last between 50 and 100 hours. Lest your tan pants, green boots and stupid hat get a little ... musty, you may want to bring spares.

Also, we say "apparently" 50-100 hours because the presentation was entirely in Japanese and we can't technically speak the language. Technically speaking. But since Miyamoto added the game has been in development by a team of 100 for over five years, the exorbitant length would make a lot of sense.

Did you watch the special 25th anniversary Zelda video that Nintendo put together? At the video we get to see even more Skyward Sword footage, and I noticed a character that I haven't seen before. I've placed it after the jump to avoid spoiling things for those trying to keep details away from their eyes.

It took me an hour and a half to summarize all the new Skyward Sword info in Game Informer's 10 page feature, but here it is! Any direct quotes come from Aonuma, unless otherwise indicated. Keep in mind, there are tons of spoilers.

"Some of the fun we had back then was lost in the creation of later games. The problem is that when you do something once in a game like Ocarina of Time, when you make the next game it becomes expected that all of that is there. You end up spending a lot of time creating all these elements of the game just to meet expectations. (My goal with Skyward Sword is to) take the franchise into new places." - Eiji Aonuma

- Skyloft is a group of floating islands, and Link is a Skyloft resident
- Skyloft residents travel between islands through the use of birds
- Link befriends a rare breed of this bird early in the game, via a special ceremony
- Link and Zelda are out flying on their birds when they encounter a tornado
- this tornado sucks up Zelda
- spend the rest of the game finding Zelda using a powerful weapon that eventually becomes the Master Sword
- Forest Temple is Skyward Sword's first dungeon
- Fire Temple is the second dungeon

There's almost no doubt that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will turn out to be yet another strong entry in Nintendo's Zelda franchise, a fitting and powerful final chapter in Wii's incredible success story. The thought of entering Hyrule once again to do battle with creatures and solve a myriad of puzzles is thrilling...

There aren't many special editions of games that I'd consider investing in, but Nintendo's got my attention with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which will come bundled with a gold Wii remote. Cue a really, really heavy sigh.

The bundle is priced at $69.99, while the regular edition is your typical $49.99. In the initial production run of Skyward Sword, however, every copy will come with a soundtrack CD sporting orchestral arrangements spanning the whole franchise.

My favorite thing about this, however, is Nintendo's explanation for the lack of actual gold.

Sorry. For whatever reason, reading that on Nintendo's website cracks me up.

Alongside the bundle, Nintendo confirmed a new version of Tetris for 3DS called Tetris: Axis, arriving on October 2, and Professor Layton and the Last Specter for the original DS. As a surprise bonus, the latest Professor Layton includes the Brownie Brown-developed Professor Layton's London Life, apparently a 100-hour (!) RPG, with visuals awfully like Mother 3.

That sounds legitimately awesome.

Skyward Sword is scheduled for November 20.

You'll need a MotionPlus or Wii Remote Plus to play The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. If you don't already have one, don't worry: Nintendo will offer the game in a $69.99 bundle, which includes the limited-edition gold Wii Remote Plus first seen at E3. It also includes a CD of performances from the Zelda 25th anniversary concert.
