We foresee one major problem with the co-op mode for F.E.A.R. 3, previewed in the video below: One of the characters looks way more fun to play than the other. Who would you like to be: the standard, cover-based first-person shooter guy? Or the telekinetic, intangible ghost-killer?
The F.E.A.R. 3 "Collector's Edition" release will include a SteelBook case, an in-game gun and a comic or something -- those items aren't important. The real bonus is something more intangible: a lifetime of nightmares. See, the Collector's Edition also includes a pregnant Alma figurine, and of course it glows in the dark.
The F.E.A.R. 3 YouTube channel shows the Collector's Edition listed for several European countries. (We've contacted Warner Bros. to find out if it's also headed to North America, though we're not sure we actually want to know.) There's a video of ... the thing after the break. Please, please don't watch it.

The fiction of FEAR 3, the concept of killer and victim teaming up to confront something horrific, is thick with potential. But when you cede both of those roles to the control of gamers can that tension still exist? More »
Looks like F.E.A.R. 3 needs a few more months of gestation. Previously announced for March 22, 2011, Joystiq has confirmed with a Warner Bros. representative that those looking for supernatural pregnancy scares will have to wait until May. So far, Best Buy is the only major retailer reflecting the change.
We want to make sure we're prepared for those earth-shattering Alma contractions, but WBIE isn't currently sharing a more specific due date.

The co-op-oriented third F.E.A.R. game will be released on March 22, which we're probably being told today by the game's publisher because Halloween is on Sunday. More »
In an effort to appease all of its retail partners while simultaneously inconveniencing fans, Warner Bros. this morning detailed F.E.A.R. 3's pre-order bonuses -- different and exclusive to three separate retailers -- alongside announcing the game's official release date: March 22, 2011. Best Buy and GameStop pre-orders will pack the Shredder and the Hammer weapons, respectively, while Amazon pre-orders get a 12-page Fear-based comic book.
The Shredder is described as "a sidearm specially developed by Armacham Technologies for their elite guard as an effective way to stop experimental super soldiers that have gone rouge," while the Hammer is said to be "Fettel's original sidearm which was lost when he was killed by his brother, Point Man." And though the new trailer after the break doesn't feature either weapon in action, it does feature a creepy, backwards walking humanoid thing just in time for Halloween.

This plate of cookies, complete with bloody bullet holes, was spotted at the offices for the game developer behind F.E.A.R. 3, Day 1 Studios. We're told these iced delights were created by "the girlfriend of one of the designers." More »
Let's see. Poorly lit hallways, bloody graffiti on the walls, an otherworldly red glow, dudes with guns, dilapidated playground, creepy little girl and the unfortunate fellow seen here. Yup, must be new F.E.A.R. 3 screens from Gamescom. Turn the lights off and check 'em out.

Paranormal FPS sequel F.E.A.R. 3 had previously been set to scare on October 20, 2010, but now Warner Bros. Interactive has confirmed to Joystiq that the game will take on corporeal form sometime in 2011. No reason was given for the delay. Black Ops already spooking the competition?
Maintaining a healthy fraternal relationship is tricky, forcing you to wrestle with subjects like individuality, compromise, and, as illustrated by the FEAR 3 trailer below, whether you should shoot the enemy soldier your ghost-brother is currently possessing. Tough stuff.

Brotherly love, there's nothing like it, and there's certainly nothing like the particular brand of brotherly love found in upcoming shooter F.E.A.R. 3, as seen in this new cinematic trailer. More »
The breadth of F.E.A.R. 3 trailers we've been subjected to thus far have been hit or miss. We say this because with this latest trailer, Warner Bros. Interactive seems to have finally divined a winning formula. The E3 trailer above is everything we'd hope for in a trailer: There's ample quantities of dudes getting shot in slow-mo, along with equal amounts of bad boy Paxton Fettel 'sploding chumps with his mind. What more could you want?

We know that F.E.A.R. 3 has an interesting take on cooperative play, and an even more interesting take on the word family. But let's take a closer gander at the game in action. More »

Psychotic ghost or fratricidal lunatic: Those are your character options in Warner Brother's upcoming thriller, shooter F.E.A.R. 3. More »
So it looks like the team at Warner Bros is sticking with the live-action ads for F.E.A.R. 3. Apparently it's just a thing it's doing, so you'd best get used to it. Anyway, the latest trailer for F.E.A.R.3 is all about telekinetic bad boy, Paxton Fettel. The actual gameplay segments of the trailer show off some of Fettel's abilities, including telepathic control of enemy soldiers. He can also lift soldiers in the air, making them easy targets for F.E.A.R.'s perennial protagonist, Point Man.
He also glows a really pretty orange. After all, there's no reason to murder hapless goons without a little flair, is there?
