Sick and tired of your neighbor Steve Grabowski always showing off with his fancy Pac-Man Championship Edition on iPhone? First and foremost, tell Grabowski to shove it, but more importantly, know that you'll soon be able to afford your very own copy. Namco's Thanksgiving Week slash Black Friday slash Cyber Monday iOS sales are offering dramatically discounted versions of excellent games like Pac-Man CE and Galaga Remix, and the deals kick off at 12AM PST today ... so they're totally live right now.

Said deals shall stay that way through November 28, just before midnight PST. At very least, the discounted wares should give you a brief reprieve from that jerk neighbor.

#arcadeperfect? I think I was supposed to get excited about playing Pac-Man Championship Edition and a new 3D first-person version of Galaga when I played the anthology game Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions on the Nintendo 3DS at a Namco press event earlier this week. More »

Though still not announced for release in North America, Namco Bandai's first (of what will likely be many) iterations of Pac-Man and Galaga on 3DS has already gotten more attractive. The latest issue of Famitsu reports that, in addition to newfangled gyroscope-controlled versions of the two classics, Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions will include Pac-Man Championship Edition and Galaga Legions, plus the original arcade versions of Pac-Man and Galaga.

The arcade ports will make use of the 3DS's autostereoscopic effect to create the illusion of looking down on the original coin-op machines -- though purists can always turn down the 3D slider, we assume. Players will also be able to choose between multiple cabinet variants. Of course, this will all seem quaint when we're writing about the seventh repackaging of Pac-Man and Galaga for 3DS four years from now.Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions packs in Championship Edition, Legions

Though there's nothing miniature about Pac-Man: Championship Edition -- or the manner in which it will absolutely devour your free time as you endlessly pursue the highest scores -- the title will be added to the PSN Minis catalog with tomorrow's update of the PlayStation Store.

The announcement of the game's imminence didn't include a price point, though it's guaranteed to arrive below the $10 ceiling that's been established for the platform. Considering the Mini-fied version of the game won't have any online support or leaderboards, we hope it arrives under that ceiling with room to spare.

I am happy to announce that Namco Bandai Games is releasing PAC-MAN Championship Edition for PSN tomorrow! You will be able to find it in the PlayStation mini section of the PSP system’s PlayStation Store for $4.99.

We are excited to bring this title to the PlayStation family as it has certainly made an impression on the gaming community over the past few years. For everyone who downloaded last year’s PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX for PS3 and was blown away by the changes made to the fantastic PAC-MAN formula, PAC-MAN Championship Edition will educate you on where some of those changes sprang from.

PAC-MAN Championship Edition was originally designed for 2007’s PAC-MAN World Championship in New York as a special commemoration of PAC-MAN’s 27th Anniversary. The title was also the last game PAC-MAN’s creator, Toru Iwatani, designed before his retirement from the video game industry. In his final sendoff to his original creation, Iwatani-san and the PAC-MAN Championship Edition development team were able to take everything that made PAC-MAN what we know and love for three decades, and refine it into a game with enough nostalgia for gamers who have grown up with PAC-MAN, along with modern gameplay enhancements to make it fresh and new for a younger generation. In the end, they succeeded with flying colors, creating the benchmark of how classic arcade remakes should be done.

PAC-MAN Championship Edition plays similar to the original PAC-MAN arcade game. You’ll find Pac-Dots, Power Pellets and four ghosts spread across a variety of mazes. The major additions to the PAC-MAN franchise introduced in Championship Edition are time limits, Pac-Dot multipliers and dynamically shifting mazes. The timer is easy enough to understand. Get the highest score you can within a certain time limit. Easy! Points are earned by eating ghosts and Pac-Dots. The more dots you eat, the more points they are worth. If PAC-MAN loses a life the number of points per Pac-Dot is reset. The real magic is when the maze rearranges itself to repopulate itself with more Pac-Dots. When PAC-MAN consumes all the Pac-Dots across one half of a maze, an item appears on the opposite side of the maze. When PAC-MAN eats that item the side of the maze without Pac-Dots seamlessly reorganizes itself into a new configuration with more Pac-Dots and Power Pellets to chomp.

For those of you whose first experience with PAC-MAN Championship Edition series was Championship Edition DX, say goodbye to your ghost trains, bombs and slowdown. This is a relatively more traditional take on PAC-MAN and the only thing that will save you this time around when you’re stuck between a ghost and a hard place is going to be razor sharp reflexes.

We hope everyone enjoys the game!

#psp PlayStation Minis are little iPhone games, except no one talks about them (and they're playable on a PlayStation Portable, not an iPhone). Sorry, but I've got to change that. More »

The hypnotic charms of Pac-Man: Championship Edition are being packed into a downloadable Mini for PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3. According to a Namco representative, the Mini should become available sometime this fall. Barring a delay, it would arrive alongside the new game in the series, Pac-Man: Championship Edition DX, which is slated for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

We got a chance to play the PSP game at a Pac-Man 30th Anniversary event in Los Angeles and found it to be identical to the XBLA version, right down to the in-game trophies. The d-pad certainly gives this handheld version the edge, and the colorful visuals look great on the PSP's screen. It should be a perfect distraction during your dull train commute, provided you don't mind missing your stop. And the next one. And the next one. And just one more.

The Pac-Man party continues as Namco Bandai has announced a followup to 2007's excellent Pac-Man Championship Edition: simply, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX. The so-called sequel will launch on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this fall, adding new mazes, modes and enhancements to the CE formula.

In fact, DX sounds seriously "deluxe," expanding the original Championship Edition's six mazes to "more than 100 varied and mind-boggling" courses, according to Namco Bandai. Additionally, new modes will include Time Attack Mode, an objective-based Mission Mode and the (devour) Ghost Mode.

We'll look to gobble up more details at Namco Bandai's Pac-Man birthday event tonight. (Old Yellow's turning 30!)
