Now a major motion picture, Kick-Ass is set in a world very similar to ours, where superheroes only exist in comic books, movies and (of course) the PSP. After eight episodes of battling through the highly entertaining challenges in PlayStation’s first original competitive reality series, The Tester, Will “Cyrus” Powers beat out 10 other hopeful gamers from across the country to win the job as an official PlayStation game tester, as well as a $5,000 signing bonus.

What did Cyrus think was his toughest challenge? What is he looking forward to most about his new career? And, does he really have the Hannah Montana Platinum Trophy?

These are just a few of the questions Brent Gocke, release manager from SCEA and The Tester panelist, asks Cyrus during his first official PlayStation Network interview available from PlayStation Store this Thursday.

Well, this is it! The wait is over. After seven episodes of watching The Tester cast grind their way through a series of elimination challenges shaped around the skills necessary to be a game tester, we finally get to see who wins the job at Sony Computer Entertainment America.

In Episode 8, “Season Finale,” the final three contestants (Amped, Cyrus, and Nauseous) face an intense series of mini-challenges involving problem solving, dexterity, PlayStation knowledge and game play. For all of you requesting some manga, IDW have provided a corker. Hideyuki Kikuchi’s Vampire Hunter D Vol 1 is set in the post apocalyptic year of 12,090 A.D. From the darkness of fallout, mutants and a race of vampires known as the Nobility have spawned. Villagers live in fear & all they have to battle this danger is a different kind of danger –- enter D –- a lone, mysterious vampire hunter. Definitely deserves its 17+ rating!

Also from IDW we see the return of Zombies Vs Robots with the first issue of a 4 part series: Aventure. Chris Ryall provides the script again (and the audio commentary!), Ashley Wood provides the covers and 3 new artists work on each of the 3 serialised tales. Highly recommended!

If gruesome, ritualistic killings are your cup of tea then check out Markosia’s Ritual. A series of murders in the small town of Black Root all have one thing in common: they’re reminiscent of ancient witch trials. The FBI are on the case and soon realize that a supernatural killer is on the prowl – condemning his victims to diabolical ordeals.

Finally we see the return of the extremely popular Atomic Robo from Red 5 and more Amazing Spider-Man from Marvel.

This week on The Tester, we find out who has what it takes to make it to the “final three.” It is not going to be easy. In Episode 7, “Killer Recall,” Amped, Cyrus, Nauseous, and Star must memorize self-defense combinations and use them against a gauntlet of attackers in a live game scenario. The grueling mental and physical challenge puts contestants’ individual memorization abilities to the test — a key skill needed to recreate game bugs or follow critical procedures in the QA environment. You don’t want to miss this episode!

By now, many of you have unleashed chaos on all of Olympus in God of War III. As you look back upon your adventure of carnage and glory, you’re probably wondering: how did Sony’s Santa Monica Studio create this experience? Veronica Belmont interviews game director Stig Asmussen and lead combat designer Adam Poole about the entire process, from developing Kratos’ character model and enlivening the Gods to creating the scale of the epic Titan battles. Enhanced by the PlayStation 3’s ability to provide all the right moves, this gem is sure to make a sudden impact especially when you see the character creator that is sure to remind many of us that it’s hip to be square There’s also a 3D Dot Game Heroes “old school” quiz to measure if you’ve still got the hunger for the 80’s.

With so much news this year about new 3D TV technology coming to your PS3, the Qore team talked to the experts at SCEA and Blitz Games about how the technology actually works and how best to develop for this dimension. This is one feature that’s got the complete picture.
