Enjoy these epic new films and more, plus new seasons of some of TV’s hottest shows now on the Video Unlimited service!
Academy Award nominee for Best Picture, Captain Phillips is based on the true story of the 2009 hijacking of the U.S. container ship Maersk Alabama. The film focuses on the Alabama’s commanding officer, Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks), who surrendered himself to a group of Somali pirates so that his crew would be freed. Director Paul Greengrass distinctively highlights the relationship between Phillips and the Somali pirate captain, Muse (Barkhad Abdi), who takes him hostage and how both men find themselves at the mercy of forces beyond their control. Watch this pulse-pounding thriller today on PlayStation Store.
The unlikely duo of Gotham City’s Batman and the intergalactic cop Green Lantern uncover an impending threat bigger and more deadly than anything the Earth has ever faced before. In order to survive, it will be a race to forge an uneasy alliance of the Earth’s greatest super powers! Together with Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg and teen super hero Shazam, the team prepares to meet evil head on and offer mankind its only hope! That is if they don’t self-destruct first. Don’t miss the latest animated feature from DC Entertainment, Justice League: War, available now on PlayStation Store before Blu-ray and DVD.
Academy Award winner Robert Redford stars in All Is Lost, the telling of one man’s battle for survival against the elements after his sailboat is destroyed at sea. Forced to rely on ocean currents, he uses what few tools he has to chart his progress in hopes of falling into a shipping lane where he may be able to hail a passing vessel. With the sun unrelenting, sharks circling, and his meager supplies dwindling, the ever-resourceful sailor soon finds himself staring his mortality in the face.

We’re super chuffed (yes, chuffed, we’re chuffed), we can’t wait to get your feedback and see what scores you post, especially on the Daily Grind. We’re giving you a five-day head start before Nikos, our senior coder, is allowed near a Vita and starts busting some serious high-scoring moves. You have been warned…
Once everyone has trained up enough and we start to see some ludicrous scores, we’ll be running a competition to see who can get the highest score on a particular day of the Daily Grind. The lucky winner will receive one of our exclusive (There’s literally only two of them!) OlliOlli Skateboard, Helmet, and MANDATORY First Aid Safety kit, but more about that soon!
We really hope you enjoy OlliOlli. We poured a lot of love, time, and devotion into this project, and we hope that shows!
If you fancy any tips and advice on how to rack up some radical scores, then do check out our Creative Director John Ribbins displaying his uber skills in these videos here.
For full details on all the modes, please check out our previous post and feel free to take a peek at our YouTube channel
Enjoy!
*BRRIIINNNGGG* Attention students, class is now in session. Visiting professor David from Prinny University here (AKA NIS America) to give you a little lesson on Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, which launches on February 11th in North America exclusively for PlayStation Vita.
Trigger Happy Havoc is a revamped edition of the very first Danganronpa that appeared on PSPs in Japan in 2010, and now includes updated graphics, touchscreen functionality, and a new game mode. Now get your thinking hats on, because murder’s afoot, and you’re going to need more than a #2 pencil to survive the tests this high school’s got in store for you.
Imagine attending the most elite high school in the country, Hope’s Peak Academy, where only the best students get their education. Your classmates include the Ultimate Swimming Pro, the Ultimate Fashionista, and the Ultimate Baseball Star. And then there’s our main character, Makoto Naegi, who’s not much of an Ultimate anything.
It’s hard enough trying to find your niche in a regular high school, but when it’s revealed that the students have been locked in by the headmaster of this school — a psychotic black and white bear named Monokuma — things get a little more complicated. The only way out is to murder someone and get away with it. However, if the other students unveil the murderer, he or she will have to endure a poetic death at Monokuma’s hands.
The gameplay utilizes the investigatory elements of the Phoenix Wright series with the dark storytelling of games like 999 and Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward. Throughout the game, you’ll gather clues and establish ties with other students. Once a murder happens, you’ll then enter the “Class Trial” period, which consists of a series of adrenaline-laced, timing- and rhythm-based games, shooting down falsehoods and shining the light of truth in the darkest corners of the school halls. On top of that, you’ll build relationships with the surviving students. But keep on your toes, because nothing is as it seems! It’s just like high school, except with crazy bears and murder.
So keep your friends close and your frenemies closer in this game of mystery and deceit. You’ll need your wits about you to reveal the killers and survive the deadliest high school you could imagine.
Thanks for taking this crash course in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Please keep your eye out for the game in February, and until then, this professor has some apples to polish. Prinny out, dood!
MonkeyPaw Games is back for the second game in the Retro Rush lineup! What’s the Retro Rush? Each week, for six weeks, we’ll be releasing a new import PSone Classic on the PSN for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PSP. The first week was Double Dragon, and now Lucifer Ring is the next stop for Week 2.
Lucifer Ring is another title that hasn’t seen a release outside of Japan and we are the first to bring it over the ocean and on to the PlayStation Network. It’s a 3D beat-’em-up that’s heavy on action.
You play as a young hero named Nash who is tasked with stopping a dark wizard from using the Lucifer Rings that will open the gates of Hell. Naturally, Nash will have to hack and slash his way through Centaurs, Goblins, Dragons and creatures named Bob to put a stop to the evil forces. There will be mini-bosses and multi-state level bosses to round out this adventure to put our hero to the test.
Dark wizards never let heroes get any rest, do they?
Lucifer Ring originally released in 1998 on the original PlayStation, which means this classic gem will see it’s first North American release 16 years after the original release in Japan. You’ll be able to play Lucifer Ring on your PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita or PSP starting January 21.
The Retro Rush will continue next week with an extremely quirky game that involves an unlikely combination of the RPG genre and firefighting in The Firemen 2: Pete and Danny. Want to give us a shout in the meantime? Find MonkeyPaw Games on Twitter at @MonkeyPawGames.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons was praised by game critics last year for its successful meshing of story and gameplay. Controlling the two brothers of the story with one analog stick each can take some getting used to, but you’ll find your rhythm as you solve puzzles with the end goal of saving your ailing father.
Starting tomorrow you can get your friends together and pit your wormy soldiers against each other in Worms: Battle Island on PS Vita. The adorable franchise has remained a favorite over the years with its classic turn-based strategy gameplay. With options like dressing your worms how you want and using oddball weapons like a Holy Hand Grenade, your fights will have plenty of pizzaz.
Finally, there’s a new PS Vita PLAY sale starting with OlliOlli. If you like music and rhythm games there’s also an entire sale dedicated to titles in those genres, so check out all the discounts below.
You can download Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and Worms: Battle Islands after the PlayStation Store updates tomorrow, 1/21.

If there’s one thing that video games have taught us through the years, it’s this: don’t fall on your face. Really, just let that one sink in for a bit. Falling on your face hurts, it’s embarrassing, and more often than not it interrupts your score combo. Fortunately, a new, retro skateboarding game named OlliOlli is here to train you on avoiding faceplants. It launches this week on PlayStation Vita.
OlliOlli combines the fun of pulling off tricks with the thrill of one-life gameplay. In order to keep your score going, you’ll need to hit every single landing perfectly. No falling on your face. OlliOlli features more than 120 tricks and grinds to master across 50 brutally challenging levels. Train up, and you could even take on the Daily Grind — a worldwide, one-time-only challenge to earn a highscore in a 24 hour period.
For a complete list of games and demos coming to PlayStation this week, head below. And enjoy the Drop!
The information above is subject to change without notice.
Guys guys guys guys, OlliOlli is out on Tuesday. It’s so close!
Ahem. Here are a few of this week’s highlights.
We’ve got a pretty killer 14 for ’14 sale going on right now, but you’d better get on it quick-like if you’re interested. Puppeteer is $7 for PlayStation Plus members! $3.75 for Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon! I daresay these deals may, in fact, be too good.
HBO GO is coming to PS3 soon, and PS4 after that. So, I guess it’s time to catch up on that there Game of Thrones so people stop yelling at me because I’ve never seen it. I hear it’s a pretty cheery, uplifting show so that’s good. The Last of Us’ single-player DLC draws ever-nearer, and we’ve got an insightful Q&A with Ashley Johnson — the voice of Ellie — to tide you over. Killzone Shadow Fall’s first pair of new (and free) multiplayer maps got an official unveil, along with a couple insider tips to help you not get dead. Toukiden, the popular Japanese demon-slaying action RPG, is getting a western release on February 11th. I can’t say I know a ton about this one, but our recent blog post has got my interest fully piqued.
What are you playing this weekend? I’m full-on addicted to Assassin’s Creed IV — sailing the open seas and wrecking any ship that has the gall to sail within my cannons’ reach is just too good.

Hello everyone! Scary clowns, abandoned circuses and explosions sound appealing? Well, dive on in…
Basement Crawl is a PS4 exclusive that allows you to play locally with friends, a feature that hasn’t been especially prevalent in games lately. Basement Crawl brings together retro gameplay, modern mechanics and grindhouse horror to create a completely addictive experience.
As soon as you dive into the game, you can face off against four players locally or eight players online in dynamic grid based arena mayhem. Even better, you can play 4-player local and 8-player online. There are a total of four different classes and nine arenas to choose from. Depending on the setting and your class, you will have to tailor your approach and style for each match. Beyond that, there are unique bombs and power ups granted to each character.
Basement Crawl focuses very very heavily on skill. We don’t care how many hours you grind in other games to progress and get the highest rank or unbeatable weapons. Here, it’s all about reflexes and strategy. If you are the more skilled player — whether you’ve played for a minute or a year — you will win.
Fast Paced, addictive and fun local or online multiplayer is what we really want to push with Basement Crawl. There are endless ways for players to refine their strategy and execution but the best players will always win. Skill beats grinding levels in this game, every time.
This is a great game to destroy your friends in — or to be destroyed by them. Speed, reflexes, strategic thinking and planning all play into the game. Combining all of these skills is the only way to become the champion.
