Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the 3DS will include retooled Iron Boot controls, item mechanics, and 3D visuals. But did you know it’s also set to feature Master Quest content? That’s in the plans, according to a Nintendo representative speaking to Conservative New Media at GDC 2011.
Master Quest is essentially a B-side version of the core game. No new tools, powers, or art are present in the side content, just new dungeon puzzles and layouts. The Master Quest was first introduced in North America in the GameCube version of the game, but it was originally slated to hit back in the Nintendo 64 generation as a Nintendo Disc Drive option. Those plans, obviously, fell through when the N64DD itself failed to materialize at retail.
I’d like to say that Master Quest sweetens the deal for the 3DS version of the game, but it’s not exactly “new” since it’s already been incorporated in a past US re-release (and as a pre-order bonus). Still, it’s one more reason to dive into OOT 3DS--if you needed another reason, that is.
OOT 3DS is still slated to hit at some point this Summer, while the 3DS hits later this month. Who's going to be there on day one?
