The other guy's thread seems to have sunk, so I'm gonna turn my server on for a bit. Connect at pipistrellus.dynalias.net (93.96.201.18:25565 if the first address doesn't work). It'll be up intermittently in the future.

coolio, my server was still up but the only people who can were random people who found the link on google, and your severs usually get the better turn out user-wise anyways.
There is now an auto-updating status image in the original post, which will update every 10 minutes. (Edit: It seems to be working occasionally but not always, but I'm not sure why)
I've been looking around the MC forums and have found a number of server hosts, but none that I can currently afford. So here's a hypothetical question for you guys: would you be willing to each contribute a small amount to pay for 24/7 hosting? (Not that I have any immediate plans to do something like this, I just wanted to see what kind of reaction it would get)
Some of the servers start at around $10/month (plus setup fees), but the prices increase with more memory and power. (And before anybody says it: I could in theory pay for it myself, but this would leave me quite short of money - this might be different if I got myself a saturday job)
but it would be no where near as good as a paid server
most computer hosted servers would probably be laggy as shit to the point where it wouldn't be enjoyable to play the game
Server's up again.
@Super-Dimento (Missing an I in dimentio there?): That may be possible using cloud computing, but it would almost cerainly require some form of specialised software to set up. I'll look into it though, see if I can find some answers.
@ gold were you not here when i joined in 08' and clearly stated that I knew that I was missing an "i" in the username and I explained that "Super-Dimentio" was already taken by an inactive user so I just got rid of the "i"
My modem just had a heart attack and reset (among other things) the dynamic DNS settings, so I've updated the IP on the original post accordingly.
END OF STREAM
that's all i get
Make sure you router didn't auto close the ports and re-set up the firewalls after it crashed, mine will do that sometimes.
IN THE SERVER PROPERTIES MAKE SURE YOU PUT YOUR LOCAL IP IN THE IP ADDRESS SPOT NOT YOUR OUTGOING IP
I already reenabled that stuff, and when I did it changed from a timeout to end of stream. Edit: Ninja'd, I'll try the properties thing.
god damn timezones
if you don't leave it on at night not a lot of people are going to be able to visit

*crag*
Server's up. Also, here's a map of the server for you (careful, it's big).
Is that a courthouse in the middle? I miss the old courthouse.
Server's up by the way.
Connection timed out"
Getting the same thing.
And down again.
